Check-out Policies

  • Y5-3rd Grade: limit of 2 items at a time, for a period of one week.
  • 4th-5th Grade: limit of 3 items at a time, for a period of two weeks.
  • 6th-8th Grade: limit of 4 items at a time, for a period of two weeks.
  • Items may be renewed twice, unless there is a waiting list for that item.

Fines

  • Fines will not be charged but students are encouraged to return items on time.  A student with an overdue item will not be allowed to check out additional items. 
  • If an item has been overdue for a period of one month, it will be considered lost and the student will be charged a replacement fee  based on the cost of the item.  If that item is later located and returned in good condition, the price of the book will be refunded.
  • Charges for damaged items will be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending upon whether the item is still in usable condition.

Media Center Usage

  • Preschool through 4th Grade have regularly scheduled class times each week.  5th Grade has regularly scheduled class times every other week.  These classes may also schedule other times to come work on special projects as needed.  Teachers will need to remain with their classes when bringing them in for special projects..
  • 6th through 8th Grade students may come to the Media Center as needed, with permission from their classroom teacher.  A Media Center pass will be required.
  • No more than 5 students may come if there is already a regularly scheduled class in the Media Center.  These students will need to be able to work independently, as the Media Specialist will not be available to help them.
  • 6th through 8th Grade teachers may also schedule times to bring their entire class to the Media Center to work on research and special projects as needed.  Teachers will need to remain with their classes.  Please check the Media Center schedule page for free periods.  Media Center Schedule
